Groupe Paramount | High Stone Wall and Terrace - Groupe Paramount

Project 22

Here’s a great example of carving out a private space with functional landscape design. This Nun’s Island home is fairly close to neighbours due to a long, narrow lot. To solve the privacy issue, a high stone wall was built to house 3 separate water features while forming the back side wall of the pool. The horizontal lines in the stone wall tie in with the long shape of the pool and is softened by drooping branches from the rear neighbour’s tree.

A fairly large terrace was built around 3 sides of the pool with a table and chairs at one end and ample space for lounging and entertaining along its length. To keep the space feeling open and airy, a light stone was chosen for the terrace which was built around the mature trees on the property. The sound of the water falling, the look and feel of natural materials, along with the pots and plantings create a very Zen-like outdoor space right in the middle of suburbia.
